PfC’s projects have poor and marginalized women as their primary target group. To improve the ability of these women to take control of their own lives, we have developed a program for life skills training. This is integrated into all our projects.
We know that better self-confidence and knowledge gives a better starting point to take advantage of new skills and job creation projects. PfC’s Life Skills Program is developed to give women the tools they need, not only to become economically independent, but also to take control of their own lives and to become locate change agents.
Most women we work with have a difficult life situation when they are recruited into our projects. Many are illiterate due to lack of schooling, many have experienced systematic oppression and violence. Most of them live in deep poverty. The Life Skills Training Program includes information on “everything” from health-related topics, to knowledge about rights.
Strengthen individuals is crucial to contributing to sustainable development on a gras root level. In times of extensive multilateral and global projects, there is a risk that people on the grass root is left behind. PfC will help to prevent this from happening (“Leaving no one behind”).
