PfC’s goal is financial independence for women. Together with our partner Good Samaritan Training Center (GSTC), we offer vocational training to poor young women. 91 new students has now started their six-month vocational education. The students can choose between classes in household / chef / catering, hairdresser / make up or textile / sewing.
In order for the candidates to be offered a job, the education must be relevant to the market and be of high quality. GSTC is among the foremost in meeting these criteria.
In Ethiopia, all candidates in vocational education must take a national exam. At GSTC, all candidates have passed this exam in the last four years. Due to this, GSTC has been approved as a Center of Excellence, which means that they are one of the few approved exam centers in the country.
In 2020, several of the activities were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, and GSTC were only able to complete one batch of vocational training courses. The students were scheduled to graduate in March 2020, but due to closed schools, both education and exams were postponed. But finally, on March 3 an exam party could finally be held for the 88 students from 2020. All passed and are ready for working life! See separate article here.
